Ragala is a town in the Nuwara Eliya District, in Central Sri Lanka and is a mountain station at 1200 meters (4900 feet) of altitude, in a splendid landscape. Its geographical coordinates are 7° 0' 28" North, 80° 51' 14" It sits in a valley in the Nuwara Eliya District and has close proximity to the town of Nuwara Eliya which is at 1800 meters ( 6128 feet)

A car hire is the common way to get to Stafford Bungalow, and there are 2 routes, one being through the Hatton Road, and the other through the Kandy Road.

There is a scenic train journey from Colombo Fort to Nanu Oya railway station. For this you have to reach Colombo Fort railway station to get the train (with a prior reservation of seats).

No we do not allow pets, service dogs or emotional support pets at the property.

In general, the climate in Ragala is cool. Warm clothing maybe may be needed at night. The average temperature varies between 14°C and 22°C throughout the year, sometimes dropping lower at night during November – January.

Major credit cards are widely accepted here. However in Ragala we suggest you have cash, as many of the retail shops may not accept credit cards.

Tipping is welcomed depending on the service given by our team, and you may wish to leave this in the Gratuity Box available at the bungalow.

We appreciate your notice on approximately what time you intend to reach the bungalow. This will assist the staff in preparing for your arrival. We recommend that your arrival to the Bungalow before sunset so that you can enjoy a sundowner in our pavilion or while taking a dip in our heated jacuzzi.
Your choice of your first meal of your stay could also be decided before arrival to ensure that it is prepared for you.
It is advisable to provide us with your best contact numbers so that we could keep in touch with you closer to your arrival.

Ragala is on the 20th kilometre post from Nuwara Eliya town on the Uda Pussellawa Road which is well maintained should normally take approximately 30 to 40 minutes drive from Nuwara Eliya town to the Bungalow.

From Ragala town there is an estate road of 1 km which takes you to the Bungalow. This is a well-travelled road and motorable by car or van.

From Colombo or Katunayake International Airport;
There are 2 routes to get to Stafford Bungalow. One is on the Hatton Road , and via Nuwara Elya , and the other is on the road through Kurunegala and onwards to Kandy and through Rikillagaskada.

From Nuwara Eliya to Stafford Bungalow;
Ragala is on the 20th kilometers post from Nuwara Eliya town on the Uda Pussallawa Road which is well maintained and should normally take approximately 30 to 40 minutes drive from Nuwara Eliya town to the Bungalow.
The journey passes through the town of Kandapola before arriving to Ragala. From Ragala there is a well maintained estate road of 1 km which takes you to the Bungalow. This is a well-travelled road and motorable by car or van.
The journey should take you approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

From Kandy to Stafford Bungalow;

From Kandy , he journey will take you towards Tennekumbura. and in the direction of Rikilikaskada, heading through Brookside Estate to then on to Ragala
The journey should take you a little over 2 hours .

The bungalow is equipped with heaters and fans in each bedroom. The bungalow is built in solid stone, with very thick walls and thus the interior maintains a pleasant temperature. There are also 2 operating fireplaces in the main Bungalow and another fireplace in the Games room and the Ambalama.

We give the guests flexibility on all meal times. We would however prefer the closing of the Kitchen or last order by 09.30 pm so that the team could be fully rested for the next day.

Before you arrive, you could request a pre-ordered meal .

To allow time for cleaning (especially during high season), we would ask you to arrive by 2pm at the earliest and check-out by 11.00 am. If your arrival / departure are delayed please contact Stafford bungalow on 0522265287 immediately. Early check-ins and check-outs can be provided based on availability at the time of arrival or departure.

Should there be no back to back bookings, we could arrange for an earlier check in or a later check out.

We are more than happy to try and arrange any additional services for you. We offer amongst others, Tea factory visits and tea plantation walks complimentary. For extra services such as golf reservations, trekking and hiking we recommend booking in advance to secure the required personnel. Our reservations team will help you choose activities based on your liking.

We offer a choice of rooms which are accessible by wheelchair.

While we do not enforce a "minimum-stay policy" we recommend a 2 nights stay. With a 3 nights stay you would fully appreciate the property with ample time to relax and engage in our in-house experiences.

Stafford bungalow is a popular choice with families. All rooms are spacious and can comfortably accommodate cots on request. We also have a Family Suite which is the preferred choice for families of 4. The games room, croquet + mini-golf lawn and swimming pool will surely keep children occupied throughout the stay.

Yes, the bungalow offers an all-inclusive package which includes all meals and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages

Yes, we can arrange a car or van to pick you up or drop you off at the Nanu Oya railway station on request.
