About the bungalow

The Stafford Estate is intrinsically part of the rich plantation heritage of Sri Lanka.

Stafford Bungalow was first constructed in 1844, during the times of the pioneer tea planter. This is built within a 50-acre working tea plantation. Over time the private estate has been restored and updated. In recent times it has been an endearing home in the hills, as an exclusive holiday destination.

Significant upgrades have been made over time, to the Heritage Bungalow and the gardens surrounding it , with the current additions completed recently.

A dining pavilion was added to give guests a spacious dining room and an additional sitting area overlooking the lush gardens.

A 2 room owners’ cottage was built with elegant interiors and fittings giving guests access to their own private garden. This was built in an elevation with proximity to the Pavilion and the Heritage Bungalow giving enhanced privacy.

An Ambalama, with the infinity swimming pool and the heated jacuzzi adds to the charm of the Bungalow,

Both the Pavilion and the Owners Cottage have a more contemporary feel and have been carefully positioned to complement the Heritage Bungalow.

We have continuously invested in our properties and our people and strive to provide curated experiences to bring out the best of the Sri Lankan hill country experience.
