Kurundu Oya Waterfall

Take an adventurous drive on roads that will take you through tea estates and make your way to Sri Lanka’s third-highest waterfall.

Kurundu Oya Waterfall is formed by the Kurundu river joining the island’s longest river, the Mahaweli. Surrounded by lush green scenery, the waterfall is the highest one produced by the Mahaweli River. It is even said that the waters of these falls never run dry.

The trek up to the waterfall and the nearby mini hydropower plant will take you approximately an hour along a winding footpath. When you reach the water, you will feel instantly refreshed by its surreal beauty, misty heights and the tiny drops of icy water that cool the surrounding air.
